Anyone who has diabetes can develop diabetic ulcers. Native Americans, African
Americans, Hispanics and older men are more likely to
develop diabetic ulcers. People who use insulin are at a
higher risk of developing diabetic ulcers, as are
patients with diabetes-related kidney, eye, and heart
disease. Being overweight and using alcohol and tobacco
also play a role in the development of diabetic
ulcers.
How Diabetic Ulcer Forms
Diabetic ulcers
are commonly called non-healing
wounds. In a natural person, a wound easily heals because
of the body’s self healing properties. In a diabetic
patient, this capacity is reduced or broken down. This
is partly caused by vascoconstriction. This happens when
arteries shrink and blood cannot reach the diabetic
ulcer.
Allopathic health professionals have antibacterial drugs
but nothing for improving diabetic ulcers. In diabetic
ulcer patient, the blood flow (vasculization) becomes
minimum and the regeneration of the granulation tissues
is impaired.
Long term diabetic patients may develop neuropathy, a
reduced or complete lack of feeling in areas due to
nerve damage. It is the result of nerve damage caused by
elevated blood glucose levels over time. The nerve
damage can occur without pain and one may not be aware
of the problem. When the skin is traumatized, poor
circulation and poor wound healing capacity would soon
cause the affected areas to develop into diabetic ulcers.
Vascular disease further aggravates the problem reducing
the body’s capacity to heal and increase the risk of
infection. A weak lung condition may further aggravate
the problem because a reduced oxygen supply makes it
difficult for diabetic ulcers to heal properly.
Treatment
for Diabetic Ulcers
The
primary goal of treating
diabetic ulcers is to try
to improve the healing as soon as possible. A good
holistic method to treat diabetic ulcers involves having a holistic product and
improved lifestyle.
Hygienic life style
-
take steps to prevent infection
-
taking the pressure off the affected area
-
removing dead skin and tissue
-
exercise proper hygiene e.g.. if sole is affected then
use plastic shoes to go to toilet
-
manage blood glucose levels
-
strengthen lungs so as to increase oxygen intake.
-
use a holistic product to treat the wound
A holistic product to treat diabetic ulcers must have the following functions
-
it must have antibacterial function
-
it must have antitoxin properties to neutralize
whatever poison produced by infection
-
it must have antipruritic functions to stop the
itch immediately
-
it must have antiexudate properties – i.e.
preventing exudates (the clear liquid) from flowing
-
it must have improved localized blood circulation
function to improve cell regeneration
-
it must have tissue regeneration function to
prevent ulcer from being infected
-
it must have
improved blood circulation function to supply oxygen to
wound area
1) The excellent antibacterial function and antitoxin
effect quickly neutralize the work of bacteria.
2) The product must raise the blood flow (bringing
nutrients and oxygen) and makes the wound fresh.
3) It's excellent tissue and cellular regeneration
properties quickly repair the damage tissue.
4) Eventually
the wound dries and scab is formed.

The above wound had not healed for 2 months (9th
August 2004).
This person's skin was dead. After an operation to
remove the dead skin, it had not healed at all for 2
months (Picture 1). The subsequent pictures shows the
normal process/sequence of a diabetic wound healing
process. This is how non-healing diabetic
ulcers should heal if properly treated.

The science of diabetic ulcer care has advanced tremendously over
the past 30 years. The old school of thought of “let the
air get at it” is thought to be harmful to healing. When
allopathic science does not have excellent diabetic
ulcer healing
products, the recommendation was to "keep it covered and
moist". But this is very damaging because each time the
bandage is removed it makes another tear on the diabetic
ulcer
that is trying to heal. With a holistic diabetic ulcer healing herbal
product, the wound can be left open to allow the
diabetic ulcer to heal
and dry naturally. The only caution is to ensure that
insects like flies do not land on the wound. |

diabetic wound ulcers after operation. |
Prevention:
The
best and most effective way to treat diabetic ulcers is to prevent it in the first place. Using
chemical methods to lower blood sugar is a reason why
diabetic patients develop.
-
Neuropathy
-
Retinopathy
-
Poor circulation
-
Other diabetic complications like organ damage by
drugs
The
key to prevent the development of diabetic ulcers problems is to use a holistic approach to treat the
disease
-
Lower and control sugar levels
-
Nourish nerves and blood vessels
-
Strengthen kidney, liver, pancreas, spleen and
bladder
-
Improve blood circulation
An
ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure
